President Finally Keeps Campaign Promise

"Maybe they can hit the terrorists with their purses?"
Washington DC, Dec 18, 2010. The Senate voted today to repeal the ban on gays in the military, marking a major victory for the gay rights movement.

The bill now goes to the President, who plans to sign it into law, overturning what gay rights activists said was a discriminatory policy that ended the careers of gay members of the military.

The 65-31 Senate vote marked a major victory for the gay-rights movement and handed President Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, a much needed political win. This bill will bring an end to Bill Clinton's 17-year old "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

This event marks the only campaign promise kept by President Obama after two full years in office. There is still some hope that he might keep a few more of his promises, but based on his results so far it doesn't seem likely.  Specifically, here is an update on President Obama's campaign promises:

This is just a partial list, but you probably get the idea that very few of President Obama's campaign promises have been kept.

However, despite this President Obama has achieved a lot of things he never promised to do. Things  like doubling our unemployment rate, adding $5 trillion to the national debt, setting new records for Americans living below the poverty level and Americans on food stamps, and driving up the cost of gasoline by over $1 per gallon since he took office.

President Obama also achieved a greater loss of our troops in Afghanistan during his two years in office than President Bush had in his eight years.

Had he actually made those promises, odds are he never would have been elected.
