Food for thought: Who really won World War II?

On the 70th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, lets consider the following:

The USA has 312 million people.
Japan has less than half that number, around 130 million.
The unemployment rate in Japan today is 4.5%. In the USA it is around 9%.
Japan's national debt is $7.1 trillion. In the USA it is around $15.3 trillion.

Life expectancy in Japan is 80.2 years. In the USA it is around 77.1 years.
The USA spends around $4,300 per capita on healthcare.
Japan spends around $2,200 per capita on healthcare.
30.6% of the people in the USA are classified as obese.
Only 3.2% of the people in Japan are classified as obese.
(we should probably eat more squid!)

44% of Japanese people earn college degrees. In the USA it is 40%.
 The USA spends 5.7% of it's GDP for education. Japan spends 3.6%.

2.9 million crimes were reported in Japan last year.
11.9 million crimes were reported in the USA last year. 
In 2010, the homicide rate for the USA was 4.8 per 100,000
For the same year in Japan, it was 0.83 per 100,000

The poverty index for the USA is 15.4%, for Japan it is 11.7%.
The USA spends $687 billion each year for defense. Including defending Japan.
Japan spends around $51 billion each year on it's own defense.
