Obama Campaign Promises Broken

Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, made a lot of campaign promises when he was running for President in 2008.

As far as we can tell, the only campaign promise he actually kept was the one to legalize gays in the military.

Of course no President or any other politician keeps 100% of their promises, but has President Obama kept any of them?

Lets look at the record and see how President Obama has done in keeping his word to the American voters.

The bizarre thing about this is that no one in the mainstream media seems to have noticed this lack of delivering the goods promised. Or, if they did notice, they just don't seem to be alarmed by it.

"I promise 100% transparency in my administration."

President Obama promised a new era of “openness in government.” If anything, the administration has gone in the opposite direction: imposing restrictions on reporters that exceed even the constraints put in place by President George W. Bush.

"I promise NO NEW TAXES on a family making less than $250K a year."

The health care law that Obama signed on March 23, 2010, raises taxes on all of us regardless of income.  Increases in cigarette taxes hurt the poorest people the most. Another promise broken.

"I will end Income Tax for seniors making less than $50K a year."

While Barack Obama did make this promise, he has done absolutely nothing to make it happen, despite having Democrat super majorities in both houses of congress for the first two years of his administration.

"I will allow 5 days of public comment before I sign any bills."

This might be the most blatant lie Obama told. So far, this just hasn't happened. In fact, most of the bills passed during his first year were rammed through with no time for Congressmen to actually read the bill, much less allow the public to comment on them.

"I will remove earmarks for PORK projects before I sign any bill."

Again, just the very opposite has happened. President Obama has set new records for earmarks and pork barrel legislation, despite promising to put an end to these practices.
"I'll put the Health Care negotiations on CSPAN so everyone can see who is at the table!"

During the campaign in 2008, Barack Obama frequently made this promise. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi repeated that promise and then closed the doors and sealed out the press when the debate began. Another major lie.
"I'll have no lobbyists in my administration."

Really? During his first two weeks in office, President Obama appointed seventeen lobbyists to high positions in his administration. He actually had to issue "waivers" to his own ethics policy to do this. See the complete list here!

  1. Obama in 2012...... The most unenthusiastic vote ever I'll ever cast. Proposed campaign slogan: "Obama! He's better than Romney... I think."

  2. Dave... can you imagine a more exciting campaign theme than "It could have been a lot worst. I can't prove it, but just take my word for it. It could have been worst."
