The Media Double Standard is Alive and Well

The old media double standard is alive and well. And there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to prevent it.

Yesterday, in Spartanburg SC, Republican Candidate Michele Bachmann confused the anniversary of Elvis Presley's birth with the anniversary of his death.

And the leftwing media immediately launched into a feeding frenzy to completely vilify her.

Ms. Bachmann should take this as a high compliment, since they normally reserve this treatment for people they truly fear, like Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh or Sarah Palin. Michele is now in good company.

Their technique is pretty simple. They will leap on any gaffe made by any Republican or Conservative while totally ignoring any gaffe made by one of their own liberal icons. They will magnify and exploit any speaking error made by anyone who opposes their radical agenda.

And everyone who speaks in public will occasionally make a mistake.

CBS reluctantly had to fire him

The leftwing media sees themselves as the official propaganda corps of the Democrat Party. This was pretty obvious when Dan Rather was using forged documents on 60 Minutes to attempt to discredit President Bush and help elect John Kerry.

During the 2000 election we got to see the mainstream news anchors switch from jubilant (when Gore was ahead) to downright depressed when Bush went ahead.
  

Peter Jennings even said on the air "We might lose this one" when Florida was moved from the Gore column to the undecided column late in the night. Exactly what did he mean by "we?"

Consider the following: the leftwing media had a feeding frenzy over the following mistakes made by politicians on the right: 

* Dan Quayle didn't realize potato was spelled wrong (a unionized teacher wrote it on a card)

* Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house (Although, Palin never said it)

* GW Bush can't pronounce "nuclear" properly. He pronounced it just like Jimmy Carter does.

* Michele Bachmann confused the anniversary of Elvis' birth with the anniversary of his death.

Those first three items were milked for all they were worth as "proof that Republicans are stupid people." That Quayle gaffe happened 30 years ago, and Jay Leno is still telling jokes about it as proof that Dan Quayle is a dope.

The last one will now be used to bludgeon Michele Bachmann and to discredit the Tea Party Movement!

But, lets take a look at the serious REAL mistakes made by liberals that the mainstream media chose to ignore completely. These aren't just random slips of the tongue, these are people who are complete idiots, who just can't speak without a written script and a teleprompter.

* Barack Obama said "I've now been in 57 states — I think one left to go."

* Barack Obama, after bowling 129 " it was like Special Olympics, or something."

* Barack Obama, after police investigated a reported robbery "The Cambridge police acted stupidly."

* Barack Obama mispronounced ''Corpsman'' during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast

* Barack Obama, confused German for ''Austrian,'' a language which does not exist

* Barack Obama: ''The Middle East is an issue that has plagued the region for centuries.''

* Barack Obama said ''this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died"

* Joe Biden said JOBS is a three letter word.

* Joe Biden said "When the stock market crashed, FDR went on TV and told us about it"

* Joe Biden asked a man in a wheelchair to "stand up and take a bow"

* Joe Biden talks about Delaware history “My state was a slave state.”

* Al Gore couldn't recognize statues of Washington and Jefferson at Monticello.

* Al Gore falsely claimed he invented the internet, and discovered Love Canal

* Al Gore once said "A zebra does not change its spots."

* Al Gore: "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water"

* Hank Johnson told us that Guam would "tip over" if we sent more Marines there.

* Nancy Pelosi said "every month 500 million Americans lose their jobs."

* Bill Clinton: "African Americans watch the same news at night that ordinary Americans do."

* Harry Reid said this about Barack Obama "...he's light-skinned," and with "no negro dialect."

* Janet Napolitano, after a terrorist almost blew up an airplane with a bomb in his briefs: "The system worked."

Biden may hold the record

There are plenty more, but I think I gave enough examples to make my point.

If ANY of the above was said by a Republican or a Conservative, the media would have gone berserk.

But since they were all said by their leftwing friends, they were immediately dismissed and forgotten.

The double standard is indeed alive and well.

54% Disapprove, 77% say "going down the wrong track"

Washington DC, Aug 14, 2011. President Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, has reached his all-time low approval rating.

The latest Gallup poll has him sinking below 40% for the first time in his term in office.

New data posted Sunday shows that 39% of Americans approve of Obama's job performance, while 54% disapprove. The other 7% is undecided. These are the worst numbers of his presidency.

Obama's approval rating has hovered in the 40% range for much of 2011, peaking at 53% in the weeks following the death of Osama bin Laden.

But Americans' view of his job performance continued to tick downward as the debt-ceiling debate heated up. By the time he signed legislation averting a federal default, he was mired in the low-40% range.

The polling setback comes as the Republican race to unseat him has kicked into overdrive. The past week has been dominated by the activity in Iowa ahead of the Ames Straw Poll, and the entrance of a new contender in Texas Gov. Rick Perry. The candidates have routinely assailed Obama's leadership in appealing to conservative activists who dominate this stage of the nominating contest.

Obama is set to launch something of a counter-offensive on Monday with a three-day bus tour of the Midwest, a trip that includes two stops in Iowa. The White House denied that the itinerary was politically motivated, however.

The three-day tracking poll was conducted from Aug. 11-13. 
In a recent Rassmusen Poll  77% of voters say the country is heading down the wrong track. 

Most Republicans (88%) and voters not affiliated with either political party (82%) believe the country is heading down the wrong track.  Even a majority (63%) of Democrats now say the country is heading in the wrong direction. 

Federal Appeals Court Rules: Obamacare Unconstitutional!

Washington DC, Aug 12, 2011.  A Federal appeals court ruled today that President Barack Obama's, D-Kenya, healthcare law requiring Americans to buy healthcare insurance or face a penalty was unconstitutional.

This ruling delivers a huge blow to the White House, as the President is still dazed and confused by his complete failure to to "create jobs" and reverse the Great Obama Recession.

This ruling comes as Consumer Confidence has sunk to a 30 year low, and the President's approval ratings are at their lowest point since his election. None of this bodes well for his reelection hopes.

The Universal Healthcare Bill was the lone Obama accomplishment in the almost three years of bungling, fumbling and vacationing that has marked his term in office so far. The President had hoped that Universal Healthcare would be his legacy.

The Appeals Court for the 11th Circuit, based in Atlanta, found that Congress exceeded its autfhority by requiring Americans to buy coverage, but also ruled that the rest of the wide-ranging law could remain in effect.

The legality of the so-called individual mandate, a cornerstone of the 2010 healthcare law, is widely expected to be decided by the Supreme Court. The Obama administration has defended the provision as constitutional.

A grim message for the President from the 11th Circuit Court

The case stems from a challenge by 26 U.S. states which had argued the individual mandate, set to go into effect in 2014, was unconstitutional because Congress could not force Americans to buy health insurance or face the prospect of a penalty.

It was strictly this portion of the law, the "mandate to purchase," that was ruled unconstitutional. Had the plan been voluntary, then it is unlikely that any court would rule it unconstitutional.

"This economic mandate represents a wholly novel and potentially unbounded assertion of congressional authority: the ability to compel Americans to purchase an expensive health insurance product they have elected not to buy, and to make them re-purchase that insurance product every month for their entire lives," a divided three-judge panel said.

Obama and his administration had pressed for the law to help halt the steep increases in healthcare costs and expand insurance coverage to the more than 30 million Americans who are without it.

It argued that the requirement was legal under the Commerce Clause of the Constitution. One of the three judges of the appeals court panel, Stanley Marcus, agreed with the administration in dissenting from the majority opinion.

The majority "has ignored the undeniable fact that Congress' commerce power has grown exponentially over the past two centuries and is now generally accepted as having afforded Congress the authority to create rules regulating large areas of our national economy," Marcus wrote.  

Many other provisions of the healthcare law are already being implemented.

The decision contrasts with one by the U.S. Appeals Court for the 6th Circuit, based in Cincinnati, which had upheld the individual mandate as constitutional. That case has already been appealed to the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, based in Richmond, has yet to rule on a separate challenge by the state of Virginia.

Opinion: Was There Any Real Difference Between Them?

Every day we see Republicans and Democrats sparring on every possible political issue.

Each side will demonize the other. The Republicans will be called "mean, heartless, greedy and selfish." The Democrats will be called "naive, foolish, treasonous, and elitist."

Most of us seem to believe there is some vast ideological difference between these two parties. But there really is very little difference between them. They seem to agree on almost 100% of all issues.

They just differ on the minor details, then magnify those differences for the sake of political rhetoric and exploit them for political advantage.

Their goal is to make YOU think you that YOU have a real choice, when you really have none. Their real goal is to win an election, or stay in office if they won the last one. They really don't give a rat's ass about what is good for the country. Just what is best for them.

Want proof? Then consider the following: 

BOTH parties have swallowed the Global Warming Hoax. Their only real difference is whether we should punish energy users more or less, and whether we should drive jobs offshore faster or slower. They even agree on this Cap and Trade stuff that penalizes any company that uses fossil fuel!

BOTH parties support Deficit Spending to buy votes. Their only real difference is whether we should borrow and raise taxes to spend more, or if we should just borrow without raising taxes to spend more. The later is only slightly less dangerous than the former.  Both parties will create new entitlement programs, while exempting themselves from having to participate in them.  

BOTH parties support Socializing Medicine. The Democrats see this as a vital way to make more people dependent on bigger government and to bolster their false image as being "more caring." The Republicans actually know it's a huge mistake, but figure they had to offer a "slightly less damaging alternative."

BOTH parties support Free Trade agreements that drive jobs offshore, and neither one wants these laws to be reciprocal. We open our markets to others, while they close their markets to us. The only reason they can get away with this is because we have too many stupid voters who cannot grasp the concepts involved.

BOTH parties support Illegal Immigration. The Republicans want cheap labor, and the Democrats want more disaffected minorities here, thinking they will eventually become Democrat voters. The Democrats want to pass tough immigration laws, but never enforce them. The Republicans want to build half a fence, as some symbol of defiance. Neither party has done anything to really control our borders since World War II. Now you know why.

BOTH parties are corrupted by lobbyists and special interests and can be bought and sold by huge corporate powers. I give the Democrats a lot of credit by doing the seemingly impossible. They somehow managed to get solid support from all the labor unions, while simultaneously getting solid support from all the huge multinational banks and corporations. They have no shame about buying support from GE or Goldman Sachs by giving them free tax money to bail them out when they screw up. I admire the chutzpah involved.

BOTH parties want the USA to police the world and promote "Nation Building." And this is a terrible waste of American money and blood. President Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, campaigned on a promise to "end the war on day one," but instead he escalated the war in Afghanistan, started another war in Libya, and then started a robot drone war in Yemen. And his voters were too stupid to notice. Where did Cindy Sheehan go?

I could give you a dozen more good examples, but I think you get the idea.

Every single time one party gets complete control of government they fail to enact the reforms they proposed. Because they really don't want those reforms. Those were just empty promises made to their voters. Political "pillow talk."

When the GOP had full control of government, they did not outlaw abortions or outlaw gay marriage rights, even though they have been talking about doing just that for the last 30 years.  That was just pillow talk for the Christian Conservatives. They didn't lift any bans on drilling our own oil. In fact, they imposed a few more drilling bans of their own. More pillow talk.

When the Democrats have full control, like they did in President Obama's first two years in office, they conveniently forgot all the promises they made to their left wing voting base. Please note, they DID NOT raise taxes for the rich, they DID NOT "bring back the draft", they DID NOT "end the war" and they DID NOT "close Camp X-Ray and release the terrorist suspects." Even though they had the votes to do it, and had promised their voters they would do it.

And this is despite having super-majorities in BOTH houses of Congress, and president Obama sitting in the White House. This tells you that they never meant to do these things, this was just pillow talk for the radical left.

And here is the kicker. Whenever ANYONE emerges who doesn't substantially agree with these two parties, then both parties will attack them to marginalize them and destroy their chances to actually offer different solutions.

This applies equally to Ralph Nader and the Green Party, and to Ron Paul and the Tea Party.

They just don't want anyone offering you any real alternatives. They prefer their rigged game, where you must choose a "lesser evil" from two horrible choices.

And both choices seem to agree on all the issues. They just have minor disagreements on the means to implement them.

Lets face it... when your choice is Barack Obama or John McCain, then everyone loses except those who thrive on the political status quo. People like Dennis Kucinich and Sarah Palin will be destroyed by the two major parties and their friends in the media.

What this all means is that BOTH major parties are corrupt, and have conspired to create the illusion of a democratic choice, while offering you none. This explains why campaign themes are always tied to vague concepts like "hope and change" and not to specific plans and policies.

The bottom line is things will stay this way until we get fed up enough and do something about it. And that day may never happen, because people are too convinced that they need 400 cable channels and really slick smart phones and tablets to play with.

These things are more important to many voters than having a real choice on election day. And the proof is that almost half of us don't even bother to vote.

Some call not voting a dereliction of civic duty, but does it even matter if your only choices are both bad ones? By denying Americans a real choice both political parties have conspired to create a government driven by special interests.

President Obama Celebrates Ramadan at White House

Washington DC, Aug 10, 2011. President Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, is hosting an Iftar dinner tonight to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is an Islamic religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Qur’an was revealed. It is considered the most venerated and blessed month of the Islamic year. 

Prayers, sawm (fasting), charity, and self-accountability are especially stressed at this time; religious observances associated with Ramadan are kept throughout the month. 

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. They do not even drink water during this time. Iftar refers to the evening meal for breaking the daily fast. Iftar during Ramadan is often done as a community, with Muslims gathering to break their fast together. Iftar is done right after Maghrib (sunset) time.  

The Iftar is the dinner that breaks the holiday's daily fast. The dinner became an annual White House tradition under President Bill Clinton and was continued by President George W. Bush. Iftar meals are often held at mosques, and Islamic communities, to which Muslim families are invited. Iftars are also commonly held at Muslim households.

President Obama hosts a White House Iftar dinner each year, and invites all of the local Moslem leaders and his closest political cronies to join in the feast.  

The food served usually consisted of  traditional Islamic cuisine: hubor over timnin (chicken over rice), lamb kabab, tika (grilled lamb), and hummus.

Since 1996, the United States Department of State holds an annual iftar dinner for community leaders from US society and faith groups as well as foreign policy officials.

Earlier in the day, the president has separate meetings scheduled with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to discuss ways of blaming former President Bush for the failure of the Obama economic policies.

Traders watch in horror as market crashes

NYC, Aug 8, 2011. The markets weighed in again today on the relatively minor spending cuts made by President Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, in his compromise deficit reduction deal.

The agreed upon spending cuts were so small, that they might not even cover the increased cost of interest caused by our credit rating downgrade last week.

Stocks took a sharp nosedive in another choppy day Monday to finish at session lows as investors fled from risky assets.

This continued sell-off follows S&P's downgrade of U.S.'s credit rating last week in addition to ongoing economic jitters and fears that the President isn't serious about fiscal responsibility.

Up until now, the president's economic policy has rested on "borrowing a lot of money, spending it quickly, and then printing more money to spend, in the hope that this might create a few new jobs." Unfortunately, this strategy has failed miserably. All we got for it was $6 trillion in new debt and a credit rating downgrade.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 634.76 points, or 5.55 percent, to finish at 10,809.85, well below the psychologically-significant 11,000 mark. The move marks the blue-chip index's biggest point and percent drop since Dec. 1, 2008.

All the birthday celebrations are over

The S&P 500 plummeted 79.92 points, or 6.66 percent, to close at 1,119.46, its lowest close since Sept. 10, 2010. Nasdaq sank 174.72 points, or 6.90 percent, to end at 2,357.69, its lowest close since October 4, 2010.

August is already on track to be the worst month for the S&P and Nasdaq since Oct. 2008.

All 10 S&P sectors ended lower, led by banks, energy and materials. Financials have plunged more than 20 percent this year.

Volume was very heavy with the consolidated tape of the NYSE at 9.29 billion shares, while 2.54 billion shares changed hands on the floor.

“Once we took out Friday’s lows, it was like a trapdoor opened,” Art Cashin, director of floor operations at UBS Financial Services told CNBC. “This is very heavy volume again and that tells me that we’ve got people liquidating to raise cash."

Moody's said while they are maintaining the U.S.'s AAA status, the agency said it has doubts over the long-term enforceability of the budget cuts already decided by Congress.

This comes after Standard & Poor's move to downgrade U.S.'s rating to AA-plus from AAA last Friday after a wild week for stocks—its worst in more than two years.

And in its latest move, S&P also lowered Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Federal Home Loan Bank's debt to AA-plus from AAA.

The President blames the GOP for not cutting more spending

S&P came in for significant criticism from U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who said the rating agency showed "terrible judgment" in lowering the U.S. government’s credit rating.

Meanwhile, President Obama said financial markets around the world "still believe our credit is AAA and the world's investors agree," although his speech did little to cheer up the market.

In fact, the longer President Obama spoke, the more the market indexes dropped.
