Profiles in Stupidity: Vice President Joseph Biden

This is the sixth installment of "Profiles in Stupidity" in which we  highlight the dumbest politicians in America today.

Joesph Robinette "Joe" Biden is the 47th and current Vice President of the United States. Before that he served seven terms as a Senator from the state of Delaware.

A Democrat, Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972. He was re-elected in 1978, 1984, 1990, 1996, 2002  and 2008.

Joe Biden is the first Roman Catholic and the first Delawarean to become Vice President of the United States.

In 2008 Barack Hussein Obama, D-Kenya, selected him as his running mate in order to make himself look smarter by comparison. Additionally, there was specualtion that having Joe Biden as next in succession to the Presidency would discourage assasination attempts.

Joe Biden is considered the dumbest person to ever serve as our Vice President, even dumber than the previous record holder Albert Gore Jr.

Biden is legendary for saying very stupid things. Here are a few examples:

In June 2006, while speaking to an Indian-American man Biden was caught saying this on C-SPAN:
"You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I'm not joking."

On Sept 12, 2008, during a stop in Columbia, Missouri, Joe Biden was speaking before a large crowd when he decided to give special recognition to State Senator Chuck Graham.
"Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya."
However, Biden did not realize that Graham is confined to a wheelchair.

On Oct 15, 2008, while campaigning in Athens, Ohio Biden said this about Republican nominee John McCain's economic plan:
"Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs."

On Jan 20, 2009. when being sworn in as vice president by Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens at the inauguration ceremony Biden said:
"Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart.
Biden had confused Justice John Paul Stevens with Justice Potter Stewart, who died in 1985... 25 years earlier.

On Mar 17, 2010, during a White House celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Joe Biden said this about the mother of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen:
"His mom lived in Long Island for ten years or so. God rest her soul. And- although, she's- wait- your mom's still- your mom's still alive. Your dad passed. God bless her soul."
This time Biden actually realized he had confused Cowen's mother, who was still alive, with his father who had died. However he still blessed her soul....
